Fitties Beach
A quieter sandy beach at Humberston Fitties with dunes, coastal wildlife, walking routes and views across the Humber.
About Fitties Beach
Fitties Beach lies south of the main Cleethorpes promenade beside the distinctive Humberston Fitties chalet community. With wide stretches of sand, dunes and an open outlook over the Humber Estuary, it feels different from the town-centre seafront and is popular with people who enjoy a quieter coastal setting.
The beach is divided by groynes and is bordered by coastal habitats and the sea defences. Walkers can follow the surrounding routes to enjoy views over the estuary, while the nearby conservation area offers opportunities to spot shorebirds and other wildlife. On clear days, look out towards Spurn Point and the two sea forts at the mouth of the Humber, Haile Sand Fort and Bull Sand Fort. Windy conditions also attract experienced water-sports enthusiasts, though this is not a supervised activity beach.
Access is commonly made from Marine Walk car park on St Anthony's Bank, reached from the Kings Road area, with routes leading towards the beach and sea wall. The approaches vary and can involve steps, sloping paths or uneven sand, so check the best access point if mobility is a concern. The beach is a pleasant choice for a dog walk, but always check current seasonal dog controls.
Most importantly, the Humber is a tidal estuary with mudflats, strong currents and changing ground conditions. Keep well away from exposed mud, follow local safety notices and check tide times before heading out. For families or anyone unfamiliar with the coastline, treat this as a place to enjoy views and beach walks rather than venture far into the estuary.
