Terms & Conditions

Using our local guide, sharing your content and keeping the directory accurate.

1. About this website

This website is operated by Visit Cleethorpes Limited (company number 14873274), registered in England and Wales. Registered office (a legal registration address, not a visiting centre): Flat 2 The Point, Sea View Street, Cleethorpes, England, DN35 8EU.

Visit Cleethorpes is an independent editorial guide and directory for Cleethorpes and the surrounding area. We are not the official council tourist information service. For legal correspondence, contact hello@visitcleethorpes.co.

These terms explain the basis on which we provide the website and accept submissions. They do not replace specific terms agreed for a service or limit your statutory rights. Using the site is not consent to marketing or non-essential cookies. Our Privacy Policy and Cookies & storage policy explain data use.

2. Planning your visit

We make reasonable efforts to keep our original editorial information useful and accurate, but listings, opening hours, prices, offers, transport, tides, beach rules and accessibility arrangements can change. Confirm important details directly with the business, council or relevant official source before travelling, booking or relying on them for safety.

Moderation is not a full verification of a business, an offer or a contributor's claims. Inclusion, a claimed entry or a paid listing is not an official endorsement or guarantee of quality. Paid promotion and commercial collaborations should be identified appropriately; they are not independent, unbiased reviews.

3. Free, unclaimed and paid listings

Our directory includes unclaimed free entries, claimed free entries and enhanced Standard and Featured entries. Some free, unclaimed listings are assembled from minimal factual business information available on public business websites, official pages or directories, without each owner's prior permission. A free entry does not mean its owner has verified, requested or endorsed it.

We aim to write original descriptions rather than copy protected text. Information being publicly accessible does not put it in the public domain or give us permission to reproduce copyrighted descriptions or images. Business information can also be personal data, particularly for sole traders; our Privacy Policy explains this distinction and rights.

Enhanced placement describes a listing service, not our vetting or recommendation of that business.

4. Business listing correction or removal

If you own or are authorised to represent a listed business, you can ask us to review, amend or remove a free directory entry. You do not need to claim a paid package or buy anything to request removal.

Email a listing correction or removal request. Include:

  • The listing URL and business name.
  • The information to correct, or your request for removal.
  • Your connection to the business and a way to contact you.

We may reasonably verify your authority without asking for unnecessary personal information. We will consider requests in a reasonable time, taking account of applicable rights and law. Where a request concerns personal data, statutory response deadlines apply; companies do not automatically have the same UK GDPR rights as individuals.

5. Accounts and submitted content

Use accurate account details, keep your sign-in secure and do not impersonate another person or business. Some features, including photo submissions, reviews and listing claims, require sign-in; free event and deal submissions may be sent without an account. Only send material you have authority to publish, including any necessary permissions for images and identifiable people. Avoid unnecessary sensitive information or private contact details in public text.

Events, deals, photographs and other submissions are subject to manual review. Submission does not guarantee publication, a particular publication date or social promotion. Free event and deal submissions are website listings only. We may decline or remove unlawful, abusive, misleading, defamatory or infringing material and investigate reports. Any review material accepted for publication is subject to moderation; historical first-party reviews are not used as public site ratings.

You retain your rights in your original content. By submitting it for publication, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence limited to displaying it on this website, making necessary thumbnails or formatting changes, and showing agreed credits. You can withdraw permission for future publishing by emailing us; we will review removal from surfaces we control. This is not a transfer of copyright, a sale of third-party rights or permission to sublicense your content for unrelated advertising.

6. Photographs and social sharing

Photograph contributors retain copyright. You must have taken the photograph or otherwise hold the rights and authority needed to submit it, and obtain necessary permissions from identifiable people, especially parents or guardians where children are involved. Do not submit someone else's social profile image or a photograph scraped from social media without permission.

The website licence includes display, thumbnails, proportionate formatting and credit. Optional permission for manual reposting on Visit Cleethorpes Facebook and Instagram is separate; it is not a condition of website submission. We do not sell your photograph or grant third-party advertising rights. The platform terms of those social services apply if you opt in to reposting.

You can withdraw optional social permission and the licence for future publishing by email. We will stop future use and consider removing existing uses under our control; we cannot promise to recall copies already independently shared by others. Consent withdrawal does not undo lawful processing already undertaken. Any separately commissioned advertising use needs an appropriate separate agreement.

8. Bookings, offers and external websites

Bookings, accommodation reservations, purchases, tickets and offer fulfilment arranged directly with a business are transactions with that provider, not Visit Cleethorpes. Check their prices, availability, cancellation terms and suitability. External links are provided for convenience; third-party websites have their own privacy policies and terms.

We do not guarantee a booking, reach, sales, results or social publication unless specifically agreed under a separate contract. We do not control third-party services or the accuracy of their content.

9. Packages, payment and statutory rights

Listing plans use subscription checkout after ownership approval, subject to the site's payment availability settings. Existing subscribers manage their subscription rather than purchasing a duplicate. Social Media Feature checkout is currently available in test mode only: no real money is taken and no usable campaign credits, ownership or paid listing tier are granted. Video remains enquiry-only. A claim or enquiry is not a completed purchase or an automatic listing upgrade.

Social Media Feature packages are £59 for one, £159 for three and £299 for six. Active Standard and Featured members receive 10% and 20% off eligible social promotions respectively; membership eligibility is checked against the approved listing. Package terms provide 12-month validity from confirmed payment and one standard Tide Times mention per purchased package, not per feature, subject to availability. These revised packages are separate from the older catalogue. Historical purchases retain their agreed prices, credits and expiry dates.

Purchased features are separate from any first-activation introductory announcement or included yearly campaign. Instagram collaboration requires eligibility and acceptance; Facebook tags or links are used where supported. Organic results and scheduling dates are not guaranteed. Tide Times is separate from The Weekly Tide newsletter. Content is written, reviewed and scheduled manually; payment never triggers automatic social publication.

Before any future purchase, the applicable price, billing period, renewal, cancellation, delivery and refund terms must be made clear in additional service terms. Any existing separately agreed purchase terms remain applicable. Mandatory consumer rights, including applicable cancellation rights and remedies for services not supplied as required, cannot be excluded by this page. There is no blanket “no refunds” policy here.

Promotional work is subject to approval and manual scheduling, with no guaranteed reach. Payment and service policies must be reviewed before live checkout is introduced.

10. Audience figures and illustrative graphics

Follower, view and engagement figures shown when promoting our services describe recent performance of the Visit Cleethorpes pages, with the source and period stated alongside them. They are not a forecast or guarantee of the reach, engagement, attendance or sales your event or business will receive, and past performance is not a guarantee of future results.

We may use illustrative graphics, such as example social media posts or device mockups, to show the style of a promotion. These are examples only; the final content, design, timing and placement may differ and remain subject to our editorial approval.

11. Availability, liability and governing law

We cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may update or suspend features for maintenance, security or editorial reasons. Please use the site lawfully and do not interfere with its operation or attempt unauthorised access.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by third-party transactions or reliance on information that reasonably requires confirmation with its source. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Any limitation is subject to applicable consumer protections.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction that apply to you. We may update these terms prospectively; the date above identifies this version. Contact us if you have a question or complaint.
