Cleethorpes Pier
The Victorian-era Cleethorpes Pier is a landmark on the promenade with beach views and seafront dining nearby.
About Cleethorpes Pier
Cleethorpes Pier has been part of the town's seaside identity since 1873. Standing in a prominent position on the central promenade, it reflects the railway-era growth of Cleethorpes as a destination for holidays and days out by the Humber Estuary.
The original Victorian pier extended much further out to sea than the structure seen today, with changes over time following storm damage, wartime alterations and redevelopment. Although shorter now, it remains one of the most familiar silhouettes on the Cleethorpes waterfront and a natural focal point for a walk along the beach.
The pier area has been associated with eating, drinking and seaside entertainment, with surrounding cafés and restaurants offering plenty of places to stop. Visitors come here to take photographs, enjoy the coastal outlook and explore the stretch of promenade that links the central beach to other resort attractions.
Access to businesses and facilities operating within the pier building may be subject to their own opening times and booking arrangements. For a simple day out, explore the open promenade and nearby independent shopping and dining streets. Pier Gardens and access paths near Ross Castle are currently closed for renovation, expected to finish in 2027; follow signs and check North East Lincolnshire Council for updates.
