Cleethorpes Luminations
Animated light artwork on Cleethorpes North Promenade inspired by the coast, ideal for an evening seafront walk.
About Cleethorpes Luminations
Cleethorpes Luminations adds colour and movement to the resort's North Promenade after dark. Rather than a temporary fairground-style light show, the installation is a public artwork that makes an evening stroll along the seafront feel different from a daytime visit.
Created by artist Esther Rolinson, the approximately 500-metre display uses animated loops of festoon lighting inspired by wind and waves. The patterns create a sense of movement along the promenade and provide an atmospheric backdrop for photographs and a walk with friends or family.
Visitors can combine the illuminated stretch with a visit to the pier area, seafront cafés or a restaurant before heading back along the promenade. It is especially appealing when the evening sky and reflections from the Humber add to the scenery. Dress for coastal winds, even if the town centre feels sheltered.
The installation has previously operated in evening and early-morning periods, but exact lighting schedules can change for maintenance or seasonal reasons. Check council updates or local notices if you're making a special trip to see it. Enjoy the displays from the public promenade and be considerate of others using the route.
